Christy Bennett, a native of Springfield, IL, holds a bachelor’s degree from DePaul University in vocal performance. She has studied classical voice with Chris Lorimer and Amy Conn. She has studied jazz with Bob Palmieri and jazz voice and piano with Bradley Williams.
Christy is a freelance musician in Chicago. As a jazz singer, she performs with the Bennett Nielsen Duo, the Joe Jones Quintet and fronts two of her own groups, one specializing in original compositions and the other focusing on jazz standards and songs from the Great American Songbook. She also performs classical repertoire with guitarist, Casey Nielsen. Christy has produced and released CDs with the Senor Fox Trio, the Bennett Nielsen Duo and the Christy Bennett Quintet.
As an educator, Christy has taught voice and piano at the Academy of Music and Art and has recently joined the staff at Accessible Contemporary Music in Chicago’s Lincoln Square.
