Dr. Steve Hawk
Steve Hawk performs as a freelance trumpeter, where he has played lead trumpet with jazz
legends including; Dizzy Gillespie, The Dizzy Gillespie Alumni Big Band, The Woody Herman
Orchestra, The Bob Mintzer Big Band, Arturo Sandoval, The Manhattan Transfer, The New York
Voices, Nancy Wilson, Diane Schuur and entertainers such as Bob Hope, Jerry Lewis, Ray Charles,
Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, Natalie Cole, and Mannheim Steamroller. Dr. Hawk has been
an active performer in the Pittsburgh area for over 25 years, performing as the Principal trumpet
with the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera Orchestra, Pittsburgh Symphony Broadway Orchestra, The
Pittsburgh Jazz Orchestra, and The MCG Big Band, as well as orchestral and solo opportunities,
including performing with The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Wheeling Symphony Orchestra,
Pittsburgh Opera Orchestra, Pittsburgh Ballet Orchestra, Butler Symphony Orchestra, and the
Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra, respectively. Steve has also performed as the Principal
Trumpeter with the San Antonio Symphony Pops Orchestra, where he currently resides.
